I recently attended an online class about the financial health of my massage business.
I was alarmed to say the least. Not by the seeming wanding of the conversation. Not by the lack of information given to us by someone that barely knows how to teach, much less a command of the information he was trying to convey. I was alarmed for the following reasons:
- Students were clearly self-arming with ideas of how to "safely" re-open with no input from OBMT, the people that set our public safety standards.
- One student, a naturopathic doctor, thought she could lead the group with info she was getting second hand about how to be safe. Yet few of the other students were inclined to question her knowledge or if she was accepting liability for us.
- The teacher didn't take a single step to stop the panic
Yes, I did draft a long, anger-filled letter to the board. And I'm so glad that I didn't send it. The next day the board director sent letter to all LMTs, stating that workshops were only just beginning and that we were not on the phase-one path for reopening. Wow... Wonder if I might have lost my licence...
